The Dirt

So they are trying to turn the book The Dirt, about the hey day of Motley Crue, into a feature length film. I never was much of a Crue fan, but the book apparently details debauchery, sex and drugs making for what could be a watchable affair if done right. At one point David Fincher (Fight Club) was attached to direct, but he's now out which isn't a good sign. Even a sincere effort to re-inact the metal band could inadvertantly rival This Is Spinal Tap for the laugh factor. No?

And although it's early, the film is slated to come out in 2008, some casting news this week made me slightly excited. Chris Walken as Ozzy Osborne and Val Kilmer as David Lee Roth...now that's nuts. Word on the street is that the band members themselves will be played by unknowns.
